Real Life Stories of Working with Nature-based Solutions: Efficient irrigation water management

Date

This testimonial video showcases the experience of Pantelis Paterellis, owner of Oinophoros winery estate in Lesvos, Greece, regarding the efficient and multifunctional management of water resources in a newly established vineyard.
With the support of engineer Panagiotis Mantzoros, the owner has created surface water reservoirs that store water from a borehole and are used for the drip irrigation of the vineyard, reducing the water needed for irrigation by 60-70%. The owner highlights the importance of efficient water resources management, as this is interconnected with historical elements of the rural landscape in the area, such as the Roman aqueducts. In addition, Pantelis focuses on the multifunctional role of rural reservoirs and underscores their contribution to a recent wildfire control in the area as a good example of integrated water resources management.
Pantelis Paterellis is an active member of the Greek Living Lab of the Mara-Mediterra project in Lesvos Island.

The clip can be viewed with subtitles in English, French, Arabic, Greek and Turkish.
