Mara-Mediterra Fifth e-Newsletter January 2025

Date

In the fifth e-Newsletter, we take stock of the progress achieved with the preparations for the upcoming, third series of roundtables. The scope of this final series of roundtables will be to invite stakeholders’ viewpoints about the degree of the ‘across border’ transferability of the Nature-based Solution (NbS) action plans and the associated policy recommendations. This is followed by extensive reporting on the array of Nature-based Solutions devised by the research team at DEU DESUM with a view to restore Lake Marmara in Turkey, complete with a link to a video clip which informs about the reasons for the drying out of the lake and the stakeholder engagement process that was led by DEU DESUM to complete the proposed NbS action plan. We also give credit to the testimonial video clips collected from each of Mara-Mediterra’s 5 hotspots of land and water degradation, which have significantly increased the project’s visibility on YouTube.

The Fourth e-Newsletter is available for download in Arabic, English, French, Greek and Turkish.
