Real Life Stories of Working with Nature-based Solutions: Organic fertilization

Date

In this testimonial video clip, Abo Arab Basiyouni, who cultivates his land in Kafr el-Sheikh, Egypt, explains about his motivation and enthusiasm to use organic fertilization rather than synthetic fertilizer.
Abo Arab owns 18 carats of land and applied organic fertilizer, in the form of compost, on 4 carats of his land. He explains that aside from having obtained a three-fold yield increase, the use of organic fertilizer improved the soil in several aspects, including lowering the salinity and enriching the soil with required nutrients.

Abo Arab Basivouni is an active member of the Mara-Mediterra Living Lab in the Nile Delta, which is overseen by the Egyptian Chinese University (ECU).

The clip can be viewed with subtitles in English, French, Arabic, Greek and Turkish.
